TROWEL SHINE ADVANTAGES
You can use Trowel Shine (also known as Lavina trowel system) with almost any ride-on power trowel and customize your polishing setup. Our pan system with free / passive rotating head technology transforms the trowel into a planetary grinding and polishing machine.
The main advantage of Trowel Shine is incredibly high productivity rates – over 10,000 sqf/hour per step, so you can finish a job much faster than compared to traditional polishing.
- Trowel Shine features encapsulated bearings protected from slurry and damage. The hub of our holders is pre-greased and comes with pressed-in bearings, races, and grease seal installed, so there is no need for periodic re-greasing or inspection.
- Quick and easy tool changes, and an even tool wear.
TROWEL SHINE TOOL HOLDERS
We offer two options to set up for trowel polishing:
- 10.63″ Foam Heads with velcro attachment (P02-FP-10.63) – ready for use with velcro-backed tools, and suitable for use with other (non-Lavina) trowels, using the pan polishing system.
- 13.2″ Metal Heads with QuickChange attachment (A80.00.00) – ready for Lavina QuickChange metals and rings, and suitable for Lavina Trowels.
We can supply different diameter pans with pre-installed tool holders for your convenience, or you can install the plates on your own pans. Each tool holder comes with a template and instructions to help you install it correctly. We recommend matching the number of tool holders to the number of trowel blades (example – install 5 tool holders on power trowels with 5 blades).
DIAMOND TOOLING FOR TROWEL POLISHING
Trowel grinding and polishing is done wet, which means you will need to manage and dispose of the slurry. There are different slurry management solutions on the market.
On flat floors / new construction you can start with Waffel Resins, 50 grit.
- If grinding is necessary (damaged concrete, rain drop effect, etc), you can start with SA-Superthick Metal discs on the Lavina QC Metal heads for Lavina Trowels only. Don’t forget to use QC Security Plates to lock the Quick Change tooling in place (A64.00.01 for metals and A84.00.00 for 13″ rings). If using foam heads on other trowels, start with HD-Copper 50 or 100 grit.
- Follow with HD Copper Rings, 50 and 100 grit, to remove scratches and transition to resins. Or, you can use Waffel Resins 120 grit, Wet Bond instead.
- Continue with Waffel Resins, 220 and 400 grit, Wet Bond. If the floor is not flat, Nato tools will work better.
- After 400 or 800 grit, you can switch to V-Harr polishing pads, or SupraShine HP Pads. To attach SupraShine (or other maintenance pads) to the metal heads, you need pad holders #A87.00.00R (see Accessories page).
